About Me
I’m a stay-at-home mom to two wonderful children - a daughter, Emma, born in 2002 and a son, Gregory, born at home in 2005. We homeschool our children and are largely influenced by Andrew Campbell’s Latin Centered Curriculum and Charlotte Mason. I’m in my early 30’s and I’ve been married to my wonderful husband Matt since 2001. I am an adult convert to Christianity and I was (almost) completely unchurched as a child. I was baptized in the Episcopal Church in 2003 but I have been attending a Catholic Church since mid-2005. I entered the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil in 2007. (yay!!) We bought property in Nevada County in California in the fall of 2006, and we are building our own home (largely by our own labor at this point). You can follow our progress at Building A Home for Our Family.
As for the blog name, well, I like the word rutabaga. It is a word I used to use frequently with my daughter when was very little. It is a teasing word for us - rutabaga girl, come here my little rutabaga, that sort of thing. I’m not sure when the whole rutabaga thing started, although I do think it has been a favorite word of mine for quite a long time. As for the dreams part, well, it was just what seemed to pair well and I thought it had a nice ring to it.
